Writing with unfortunate news.
As I've spent more time in the patch these last days, I'm recognizing the productivity and health of the crop is not where it needs to be to open to the public this season. Despite the decent flowering at the beginning of spring (see the photo), I'm seeing poor fruit set and low plant vigor, and a good portion of the strawberries that are ripening are under intense slug/snail pressure. This wet weather has also brought a bit of common leaf spot.
Making the difficult decision not to open the u-pick this season.
What berries we are able to pick will be going into the farmstand at $5/pint. We'll do our best to keep it stocked. You can also email me at anson@fullforkfarm.com if you would like to get on a list for a flat of berries ($60). We'll do our best there as well.
I don't want to speak too soon, but the issues that I'm seeing may mostly be affecting the early-season berries. I'll remain hopeful for the late-season varieties, and for sunnier weather later in June. If things change and I think we can open for that, I'll let you all know.

We’re excited to have received a SARE grant to install a novel netting system over the honeyberry, raspberry, and blackberry crops to test for bird and spotted-wing drosophila exclusion over the next two years.
We planted 50 peach trees, 40 dwarf apples, and a host of other perennials this spring.
